CNC Operator (Turning, Drilling, Milling)

At P. van der Wegen Gears we make gears for industrial and maritime applications, with diameters up to 20 meters. As a CNC Operator you stand right at the heart of that process: you turn raw metal into precision gear components that keep machines and ships running all over the world. In a modern, well equipped workshop and a friendly family business, your craftsmanship makes the difference between a good product and a perfect one.

What you will do

You run our CNC machines independently and take ownership of the quality that leaves your station. Your work includes:

⚙️ Performing CNC turning and milling operations based on technical drawings, work orders, and production instructions.
⚙️ Setting up and adjusting machines: choosing clamping methods, selecting and setting tools, and applying offsets and corrections.
⚙️ Loading, creating, and adjusting CNC programs at the machine for a stable and repeatable process.
⚙️ Safeguarding quality and output by inspecting your work and keeping scrap and rework to a minimum.
⚙️ Spotting tool wear early and solving tooling issues through timely replacement and adjustment.
⚙️ Reporting deviations or unclear information in drawings and work orders, following our internal procedures.
⚙️ Recording production data and special occurrences in the work orders and systems.

You mainly work on CNC lathes and VTL machines, and you report to the operations manager.

Who you are

You are a precise, reliable craftsperson who likes to work independently and takes pride in a job done right. You bring:

⚙️ A technical education in metalworking, mechanical engineering, or mechatronics (vocational level or equivalent).
⚙️ At least 2 years of experience as a CNC operator, or a completed internal training program.
⚙️ Experience with independent machine setup and quality inspection in a production environment.
⚙️ Experience with Siemens Sinumerik 840D or a similar CNC control system.
⚙️ A good command of English. Dutch and/or German are a welcome plus.

A certificate in CNC machining, measurement, or inspection is a strong plus, but not a must.

What we offer

We are a healthy family business with short lines and an informal atmosphere, where you are a name and not a number. You can count on:

⚙️ Direct employment with P. van der Wegen Gears, under the CAO Metalektro.
⚙️ A modern, well maintained machine park and the chance to work on exceptionally large gears.
⚙️ Room to grow through training and certification.
⚙️ Involved colleagues and a pleasant place to work.

Working hours are 40 hours a week in two shifts (morning and evening).
