Mechanical Maintenance Technician

P. van der Wegen Gears manufactures gears and gear related products with worldwide applications in mining and offshore, among others. Our strength lies in the big work: gears up to 25 meters in diameter, produced on the most modern machines. We are an internationally oriented family business with very short and direct communication lines.

As a Maintenance Engineer you join a close-knit team working with high-quality machines and installations. And that team is exactly what makes this role so interesting: thanks to the years of experience present here, there is a great deal to learn. Whether you want to deepen your knowledge of hydraulics, electrical engineering, or CNC controls, your colleagues take you along and you grow here.

What you will do

You are responsible for keeping the entire machine park and its installations in top condition.

⚙️ Carrying out corrective and preventive maintenance and performing inspections.
⚙️ Resolving breakdowns and carrying out repairs, both mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical.
⚙️ Taking initiative to keep the machine park functioning optimally.
⚙️ Putting forward improvement proposals and making sure they are actually implemented.
⚙️ Keeping the administration up to date, such as logging breakdowns and repairs in a logbook.

What you bring

⚙️ An MBO level 4 working and thinking level in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, preferably supplemented with Electrical Engineering.
⚙️ Relevant work experience in maintaining (metalworking) machines.
⚙️ Preferably knowledge of CNC machines; knowledge of Siemens and/or Heidenhain controls is a plus.
⚙️ Knowledge of PLCs (Siemens STEP 5-7) is also a plus.
⚙️ You work well independently and as part of a team, and you take responsibility.

Good to know

This is a day-shift position. If a breakdown occurs outside working hours, you are open to resolving it on an incidental basis. For that reason we are looking for a candidate who lives in the direct vicinity of Tilburg (within a radius of about 20 km).
